Join us for the second international Search and Rescue (SAR) IMRF #WomenInSAR Training, hosted by the Finnish Lifeboat Institution (FLBI). The operational training course will be held in the Bågaskär Training Centre, Inkoo, Finland. Our 2022 training event sold out and you can read a write up of it here.


EVENT INFORMATION

The #WomenInSAR Training Course will be running 23-25 August, held at FLBI Bågaskär Training Centre in Inkoo, a short distance from Helsinki. This training is for 16 participants and is intended for women operating on maritime SAR vessels, from IMRF member organisations only. The training will include several aspects of leadership on SAR vessels, including communication, mission handling, and different tools and procedures to assist in leading the unit. Ample time will be provided for sharing experiences. The training will include both facilitated class-room discussions and practical exercises conducted on the FLBI’s training vessel, Rescue Cruiser Jenny Wihuri, and several other rescue vessels.

Who Should Attend?

The #WomenInSAR Training is intended for women operating on maritime SAR vessels, who are already coxswains (or similar position) or who are on the path to becoming coxswains. All participants are encouraged to share their experiences as part of the learning process.

  Registration Fees

For IMRF Members Only: £550 per person.

Included in the Training

• Transport to and from Helsinki City Centre to FLBI Bågaskär Training Centre in Inkoo.

• Accommodation at the Training Centre for 2 nights (Friday & Saturday only) in shared accommodation (2 persons per room).

• All meals and refreshments while on the training course.

Costs Not Included

Your travel, any additional accommodation costs aside from the 2 nights included above, and any other costs you incur in attending the event.


How to Apply

To apply for one of the 16 places on our #WomenInSAR Training Course, please fill in the application form at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/womeninsar2024. If you are successful, we will ask you to register and pay for your place on the training. The deadline for applying is 31 March, 2024. Applications are received also after this date, provided that there are spaces available.
