New IMRF members SafeTrx have had their vessel Smartphone tracking application recognised through the Irish Maritime Industry, winning the prestigious “Innovation in Maritime Safety Award” category at the Industry awards last month.
The award category requirement stated:
Safety of life and protection of the maritime environment are at the forefront of priorities for all companies, institutions and organisations that operate in the maritime domain.
It is imperative that continuous improvements in safety are advanced in line with modern designs for vessels, installations and maritime infrastructure.
This award will recognise the individual, company or organisation which has made a significant contribution to improving maritime safety or the protection of the maritime environment. Such contribution can have been made either by a specific activity or over a period of time.
At the World Maritime Rescue Congress in Bremerhaven last month there was great interest by delegates in the work SafeTrx has been doing. There is strong support from many of our members, who have adopted the system and are impressed with how it works.
SafeTrx is a Smartphone App for both Android & Apple iOS devices (iPhone, iPad) that monitors a journey, alerts designated contacts should a journey go overdue, and provides a Web-based user interface for the SAR service to rapidly assist in locating an overdue vessel.
Developed in co-operation with SAR and Coast Guard organisations around the world, SafeTrx is now the standard solution in mobile application vessel tracking in Ireland, the UK, Australia, Spain, South Africa, and the Netherlands.
Congratulations John, Nessa and the team at DeCare Systems Ireland on the award and for providing the maritime SAR community with this great app.
