In November, the international maritime SAR community will gather in Thessaloniki, Greece, for the 2024 IMRF Annual Meeting. Marking the 100th year since the founding of the IMRF, the meeting is set to feature a series of sessions and discussions focusing on the past, present and future of global maritime SAR.

The first day will include reflections on IMRF's 100-year history, updates on current programmes, and discussions on future initiatives like the #FutureSAR climate change initiative and sustainability in maritime SAR. Additionally, the IMRF will focus on the implications of the IMO MASS Code on SAR, discuss membership benefits, and hear directly from our members in the “Member Focuses” section. The day concludes with the IMRF Awards 2024 and a networking dinner.

The second day, which will be themed around SAR in Greece, will include case studies, new technologies, and a live exercise demonstration on the Thessaloniki seafront, followed by lunch.

In addition to the annual meeting, the IMRF is holding its first-ever Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Seminar the day prior to the annual meeting. The seminar will explore the importance of EDI in the context of maritime SAR and promote best practices to ensure safety, fairness, and respect for every member of the SAR community.
