Under the auspices of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the International Maritime Safety, Security and Environment Academy (IMSSEA) organized a course on SAR for selected government official candidates who require an in-depth view of the organization, management and operation of the SAR service.
Funding from IMO covered course, boarding and accommodation fees, and specific allowance for the duration of the course. Travel cost to and from IMSSEA was funded by LiMA.
The course was held at IMSSEA in Genoa, Italy, from 1 to 11 July 2014.
The following experts, with proven experience from three different SAR organizations, successfully delivered the course.

Course topics included a comprehensive analysis of the regulatory international scenarios, how to implement the SAR responsibilities, the various SAR assets, the management, planning and coordination of the SAR effort.
The course was attended by a total of six (6) participants with one participant each from Argentina, Congo, Cote D'Ivoire, Cyprus, Liberia and Tunisia.
In the region, only Liberia's nominee, Emmanuel Mezoh Dolakeh, Technical Supervisor at RMRCC-Monrovia, was awarded IMO Fellowship.
