Wednesday – 28 October 2015
Wednesday afternoon was dedicated to our hosts for this evening, Åland Sea Rescue Society. The session started with a welcome from ÅSRS Chairman, Lennart Joelsson. ÅSRS CEO, Dag Lindholm, followed up with a presentation about the organisation, its development and the important role played by the Society in the Åland Community.
Captain Udo Fox, Chairman of the IMRF, took the opportunity to welcome everyone to the meeting and congratulated ÅSRS on reaching this milestone.
Other presentations were held by Jukka Savolainen of the Finnish Border Guard, Jullia Westerberg from the Government of Åland, Rolf Westerström from the Swedish Sea Rescue Society (SSRS), and Leif Nordlund of Alundia Insurance.
In the evening the European Meeting delegates joined over 150 local crew and dignitaries for a celebratory meal to commemorate ÅSRS 50th year.

Today the meeting was divided in two session.
Session 1 – Crisis in the Mediterranean – How Can We Help?
Presentations by Pekka Niittyla – Finnish Border Guard, Matthew Fader, Swedish Sea Rescue Society (SSRS), Håvard Vedik, Norwegian Society for Sea Rescue (RS), Leena Kämäräinen, Finnish Red Cross, Johannes Bayer and Ruben Neugebauer, Sea Watch, and Dalene Bailey, US Coast Guard – Auxiliary.
Season 2 – Increasing European Cooperation between SAR Organisations
Presentations by Anna Classon, Royal National Lifeboat Institution, Henk Kok, Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution (KNRM), Justine Heeley, McMurdo, and Jori Nordström, Finnish Lifeboat Institute.
In the evening the attendees were again hosted at the local restaurant by ÅSRS.
Friday – 31 October 2015
The delegates were invited to visit the Finnish Border Guard vessel TURVA. During the 2 hours on board cruising through the south Archipelago the crew of the TURVA provided a guided tour of this impressive vessel.
